rollback Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer

Robert J. Sawyer has written an entertaining and thought provoking story revolving around human relationships with a secondary theme about first contact.

It is 2048 and a second radio signal has been received from space, Sigma Draconis to be exact.  Sarah Halifax decoded the first radio signal almost 40 years previously and she is the only one who can crack the new code.  The problem: Sarah is now 87 years old and may not live long enough to decode the message.

The solution?  A wealthy industrialist offers to pay for her “rollback”, an experimental rejuvenation process that will return her physically to a much a younger age.  Sarah agrees on the condition that her husband gets a rollback too.  Tragically the rollback does not work for Sarah… but it does for Don, her husband.

You will have to read the book to see how the story unfolds…

I just finished this book myself and loved it. What a twist on the “Contact” theme!
